Lemonhead Summer (4 Haiku)
Brandon L. Brown

look at the blond sun!
a scabby-kneed girl beams by—
her popsicle runs.

purple explosion
at the end of a green spear—
then drooping, wilted, broken.

watermelon juice
stains my daughter’s face—
she smiles and I ache.

a lonesome swing set
sways blue against tongues of grass—
oh . . . rust and regret.
