Hayden Smith

Stirring words fall limp from exposure.
Walk the line, but never cross.
Parasites appear innocuous as they puncture vitals.
I allude to America, forever adored and favorable,
unless you are born without a home.
I surrender these words to deadened ears,
for historical parallels become unnerving.
So keep mindful of this seeping wound,
cut unceremoniously along the Third Reich.
This is not prophetic.
This is not sensational.
This is no warning, no contrition plausible.
This is carnival.
Welcome home.
