Festering
Tim Rickabaugh

Wondrous minds devoid of cultivation, slowly moldering
from within.
Gradually decomposing . . . as defined by Webster’s . . .
“A gully full of garbage that festers in the shade.”

Adrenal glands instinctively overriding rational thought.
We are (again) a hungry and threatened species.
Driven by breaking news, a force-fed consumption of
incoherent tweeting.
We are much like a dedicated mother confined with her
colicky newborn.

Free thinkers are now the enemy of the American people.
Truths are being abandoned in favor of tasty alternative facts.
Confirming what we should have known all along.

After all, it’s just common sense.
